Band Name Suggestions, Vol. 1 @ 12:14 pm

milestogo13:
So I figured I would go ahead and get the ball rolling here with a short list of band names that I'd like to see come to fruition somehow. I don't have any general use pictures to go along with them, but seriously, between Google Images, AltaVista, and any number of internet collections of people doing stupid things, I don't think we'll have a problem scrounging those up. If you make a cover off of these, or one of your own personal inspirations (which is both allowed and encouraged, this isn't an official list by any means), you can go ahead and make a separate post, so long as you remember to keep the images behind a cut with proper warning for anything over the edge or not safe for work. Also keep in mind that coming up with a title for the album can really help sell it. Feel free to throw additional band name suggestions on the pile either in comments here, or in another post of your own.

Album Covers I'd Like to See:

The Fuzzy Cheese Eaters
Tangy Mangoes (for kokopellinelli)
Nuns in a Blender
Tha $enior Citizen$ (think old white rappers)
Tower of Swine
Billy Joel's Liver
Amish Vengeance (very death metal)

Amish Vengeance (very death metal)

Seeing as the Amish shun both electricity *and* music...how would one go about doing that? A sixty minute album of someone reading the Bible in german with a growly voice? :D

Once More, With Proofreading

(ed. note - sorry, haven't had my coffee yet)

That's the very reason I clung to that suggestion so fervently. ;) I enjoy surrealism and odd juxtapositions.

The Amish have actually made an exception for cell phones recently because of how much they rely on their scattered furniture and blanket stores to fund their work. So now they, like most other musicians these days, could just phone it in. *grin*

Although I will admit, I like the imagery of your suggestion, too. I'd buy that just to play it outside on Halloween, because a gravelly-voiced Amish man reading the Bible in German would, while not in principle be creepy, probably sound pretty unnerving nonetheless.

You have no idea. :D Check out E Nomine's "Das Testament" album (my idea is not original, much as I'd like to take credit for it).

and I find the cell phone thing fascinating. I'll have to ask my friend Jess about that - part of her family is Amish.

Oooh, do let me know if you find anything out. I don't know if the elders have officially approved them (it was something under heavy debate for a long time), but the very tiny fraction of my family that is also Amish out in Iowa informed me, last time I was visiting (which was, granted, about three years ago) that most everyone they knew already had one because they were just way too handy.

Which is made extraordinarily ironic by the fact that I refuse to get a cell phone because I think they equate to electronic leashes. So now, on the communications front at least, the Amish are ahead of me technologically.

Those SNL skits are awesome. Ken does a nifty impression, too. I could hardly miss the title. :)

*runs off to google them and watch them while she also googles for suitable senior citizen rap artists*

So, I'm picture-rich, but clever-poor at the moment (it's the end of the semester and what little cleverness I have is thoroughly monopolized by my dissertation proposal or my pathetic attempts to create a webpage -- don't ask about the details of either unless you want to be *really* bored), so what is the official position regarding posting pictures for others to use?

By all means, please do so! I'm sure I'm not the only one this is true for, but I actually work much better in the graphics arena if I start at the picture and move to a title, rather than vice versa. Which is odd, really, because in every other area I have to start with the words because my visual relationships skills suck.

Well, prepare yourself for some randomness...I live in a random city and always carry a camera with me.
